Pole Holes in the Hobie Outback...

I know that I have at least two pole holes in the plastic hull of my Hobie Outback.  I've looked at them for over a year wondering how to use them most efficiently and haven't come up with any of my own brilliant plans.  I suspect there is more hardware involved in refining the functionality of those sloppy butt perches with their little rubber plugs but no dealers have been able to steer me aright.  Are there plans and pics that I haven't quite found yet around this site?

There's two rod holders on my Adventure also and I don't use them for more than a gaff, club, or net. They're a little shallow and I don't feel confident about my rods in there.
Hobie does make some adapters that make them a bit better. 15 bucks each.



I've always counted on rod holders on my tackle box (strapped down behind my seat) for rod storage though.

Along a related line - where would one store rods during a surf launch?  I was sitting on my Outback yesterday trying to figure this one out - I can get a two piece rod about 2/3rds of the way in through the midship hatch.  Should I just break the rods down completely, stow the reels below deck, and bungee the sticks to the side?
