Howdy all,

Looking for input on bumping around bays when the swell and wind is up like it will be early this week.  I want to get some time out on my boat pulling a crab trap and fishing, but the NOAA forecast looks to be a bit more that what I can handle without being a fool.  And I am trying not to be a fool.

Let's say I head out tomorrow AM to bump around Tillamook Bay near Barview.  I would guess that I would be dealing more with chop/windwaves than with swell, or am I making assumptions?

Cheers
Madoc

The swells push right up barview and sometimes even wrap around the corner into crab harbor.  The biggest threats are wind and tide.  You don't want to be anywhere near the corner once the tide starts going out.
Incoming tide should be good for crabs though.  I believe that there are still a few Chinook and Sturgeon being caught in the bay.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

Yeah, T-bay can get mean with a little wind.  You'll think you're in some solid class II rapids.  Check the wind direction/speed and plan accordingly.
