I do!
But I may be helping with the Salmon cooking this year.
PM me before the event, I will get a free dock space for you, for the weekend if you would like.
 no launch fee either  ;)
This applies to all here at NWKA, if you do travel for this....I may be able to sweet talk a yacht owner or two for accomomdations (dock side) for the weekend.
hope to see a few of Y'all here anyway.

I would be very interested in a free slip for the derby.  I'm planning on coming to Brookings for a couple months to get out of this heat (they're forcasting 108 for Tuesday!!) and I'll have my 5th wheel, boat and yak in tow.  I've never entered a derby before but for $40 and a free slip I figure WHY NOT??

let me re state this....I have a free slip available for KAYAKS ONLY. You are more than welcome to park them at the Chetco Cove Yacht Club's Snipe dock. and use during the Derby
As far as a Power boat.......yer on yer own! I don't have that kinda pull at the Port (yet ;D)

Oh I see.  That would be quite the journey to get out there into the prime salmon grounds and then fish all day, or all morning, in a kayak.  No wonder you're cooking.  LOL  (sorry--couldn't resist) Certainly beyond my comfort level.

I should be down there in a couple days.  Maybe I'll see you out there.

I will ask at the Port and find out from the fishermens mouths (kinda ironic...we all lie  ::))
I'll get the skinny on 'em for ya.
Two weeks ago we started pulling in fish at the 8 mile line and worked out to the 14 mile mark (16 wild Chinook)...very far for Yakkin'!!
I am doing a small remodel down at the Port, look for my red Ford Ranger with the NWKA stickers... The job is right next to the "Hungry Clam" Diner.

Hard to say where they will be in September.  Three or four miles out from Bird Island (Goat Island) has been a productive area in the past.  Gets pretty sporty out there too from time to time, especially in the afternoon.  Bring your Scopace.

it is not at all unusaull for those Chinook to be schooled up in the Bay itself around that time as well.
I know a few folks who troll in their drift boats when they get that close.
its obvious you have been here before....you even have the bird/goat island thang in yer head! :D
Yup, the State decided to call it Goat and it has allways been known to locals as Bird for as long as any one here can remember.
HeHe some body even painted over the State sign at Harris Beach Park ;D
hope they are close for the Derby!
