I have put mine in tip first and toward the bow, but never really thought about it, so I can't compare the 4 choices.  Also I've stopped using the Rod Pod for rod storage - not by design, but for now I don't need it to store rods.  Since I do not launch through surf, and now only bring a single rod, I have a rod holder up front and the two stock holders, so I have room on deck.  If I were bringing more than one rod, I would keep one in the pod to avoid active rod obstruction and since I have also stopped bringing the milk crate and its attached 2 holders.

Ok heres another question about below storage.... For those of us who have a OK and have a Rod Pod. which way do you put your rods into the rod pod to store them below.. Butt first towards the front or tip first towards the front.

Marilyn

Personal preference...I put mine in tip first toward the stern...

Not for me.  I slide mine tip first towards the rear. (bait casters on 6.6'-7' rods).  I don't want my reels to get stuck under my arse.   For rods in the lakes, I don't bother putting them down in the rod pod.

However, I'm looking to put together some kind of rod holder in the tank well somewhere.  I might just make something out of PVC.

I got my 6" round hatch the other day, but they sent me a white one.  They didn't have the option to pick colors, and the one in the picture was black.  So, I'll wait till the black one gets here and then I'll install that one in the rod pod lid.  While I have the white one laying here, I pushed a bunch of containers, bags and what not through it while holding it in the location it will be installed.  So far it looks like I'll be set in that department.

With my dry bag pretty much plugging up any strays from wandering towards under my seat and to the rear, I need to fortify the front area.  I may make a closed cell foam bulk head between the sonar area, and the front hatch.  This will keep my gear from going too far forward.

For ocean fishing, it's nice that it is really simple riggings, so I'm kinda going away from the hard plastic lidded type tackle tray/boxes, in favor of soft sided zippered bags.  For one, I turned a simple CD case into a holder for my pre-tied leaders.  Just coil them up and slip them into each CD pouch.  Zip it shut and they aren't going anywhere.  All my jig heads are in another small zippered bag that will fit through the small hatch.

Since I have the bungees going across the rod pod, I can then slip any one of these bags under the bungee on deck while dinking around with tying on a new lure/jig.

I liked that mod when I paddled your t13, and after yesterday, i REALLY like that mod.  I dunno how many times i've looked down at my rod pod and thought to myself, i should snap at least one of the straps together...

It's an easy mod.  No drilling needed.  All the clips can be attached with the existing screws (maybe slightly longer - I don't remember).  Do the Sonar Shield bungee mod at the same time.
