We probably should have just started one thread for the whole week!  ::) :D
The only days off I have are Thursday and Friday of this week and I'd like to make the call later this week once we get a better idea of what it's going to look like. Anyone else able to make it out these days?

Of course this is the week with really nice conditions, and I am out of town until next Monday.  I was hoping to get out today (my one day between business trips), but I realized last night, when I got off of the plane around 11pm, that loading a car in the middle of the night, and getting 3 hours of sleep and rushing too and fro is not conducive to fun or smiling.

Oh well.

I would be up for something on friday. Looks like the ocean wants to play ball for once lately.

I'll be there Saturday and possible Sunday it's a hard choice...  Probably the last ocean fishing trip of the year or deer hunting...  I will be going atleast one of those days to PC if the conditions hold.

Does the fishing season actually end in the fall or is it that wind and waves pretty much prevent any non-suicidal kayaking?

In Oregon rockfish fishing is open year round.  However, the ocean is a little less forgiving in the winter and finding a decent window of calm is harder to do.   That said, some of the best bottom fishing can happen in the winter.

The windows of acceptable conditions get smaller and less frequent.  They are still out there you just need to be able to take advantage of them when they occur.  You may only get a couple a month, if that, later in the winter.

Based on my previous years surfing experience (this is my first year kayaking) the waves are always bigger in the fall and winter around here.  It's not to say we won't get more nice days like these but these may be the last before you have to start worrying about ice and air temps that are colder than the water temps.

Thanks guys!  Sorry for hijacking the thread earlier but I see this whole world of fishing possibilities now that I've got a yak.

Don't worry about it. Nobody around here will fault you for getting excited... ;)

Looks good Saturday, I may try to make it out there in the morning.
