I'm sure this would be useful as a backup paddle, but always attached to the rod would be a bit annoying.  ::)

Thoughts anyone?

that'd give some crazy action to a jerk/slash bait... perhaps better suited for a fly rod?

Where's Billy Mays when ya need him?   I'm sure "Mr. Sharpie" himself could pitch a good tune for the inventor and get sales to blossom.....somewhere?  ::)

Seems like it would be a PIA when you have line out and a serious hinderance while fighting a fish.

looks like something you could store inside the Yak and use if by chance you forget to leash your paddle and you have to go chase it or loose it completely.. cause we always have a fishing rod with us.

Lot's of force paddling with a line and hook on the other end... Can you say LAWSUIT?! That thing better have a really nice disclaimer engraved in it.

I would not want to pull that POS out of my boat during a water safety check.  I'm sure the understanding Marine Deputy would try to not laugh his a%$ off at the sight of that.  "Why yes deputy...I do have a spare oar/paddle ...check this bad boy out!"  I then confidently whip the rodoar out of storage (kept next to my pocket rocket fishingtacklebox) for all to gaze upon...
I think this is like the idea of the homemade self-inlfating life preserver kit (bag of party balloons kept in your shirt pocket).

True story, I was floating on the Deschutes River below South Junction and asked old guy in a small raft if he needed a life jacket...

Old guy pulled out a Fred Meyer plastic baggie from his fly vest and then demonstrated blowing it up.  He explained all he needed to do was "hold on to it tight" and he could swim to shore.  I asked him how confident he was in his equipment.  Old guy told me very confident. ...and there ya go.
