  You're welcome to my boat for a test as well if you'd like...................

Thanks Chris; I'd love to, but I just don't think I'll have time. I'm heading overseas the first week of Jan, and with training, holidays, family...... I should be able to get out for a spin on Holt's Revo this week. I think his boat will give me a pretty good idea of the Adventure's performance when I take in the L' X W" difference. Hobie has really been trying to edge out the competition on my list. This test run will be the deciding factor on a Malibu or Hobie for me.

I understand those physics, and agree 100%. The boat I buy won't be exclusively her boat though. Right now all I own is a Fish 'n' Dive (12.5' X 36"), and what I want is another SOT that is longer and narrower. I know she won't be able to push it around as well as a Pungo, but far easier than the FnD I'll be in with our daughter. Then I'll have a faster ride when she's not on the water (most of the time). This is where Hobie really weighs on my mind. It would be ideal for her, but I really like to paddle.

Didn't mean to stir the hive, just picking the brains of NWKA's experience

Your not stirring the hive :) I just come off that way some times......I like boats.

Glad to hear. I didn't want to come across argumentative.

Nanook is opinionated about his yaks but that's why we like him here. The variety is awesome. Great to see the sexy lines of a composite SIK.

Dick,
if SOT is what you want, also go over to the recently renamed sporting goods store and see if they have a OK Venus left over. it's got a weight limit of like 180lbs, but had been redesigned for women/smaller paddlers [ sorry i cant envision anyone i know paddling a PINK boat, tho]

what i'm suggesting is that you may be actually looking at purchasing a totally separate boat just for your wife..

but;

when i fished with Boogie-D and the AH crew on Oahu this past summer, the loaned FnD did pretty well in the waters around Haleiwa . while it isnt a touring yak by any means, i didn't feel like i was paddling a barge, either. short version, don't sell your current ride short.

all that aside, a 2nd or 3rd yak that you can share among family is a good thing to have....

Thanks Rich. I love my FnD; just want something more suited for long paddles, and second boat for family and friends. I don't even think the wife would go for a pink boat. We'll see how much she really likes going out on the water. If she gets hooked, I predict a powder blue SIK in my future as her boat.
