Took the plunge today(hear that flushing sound?)and bought a Garmin GPSMAP440S fishfinder/gps. Wonderin' if you experienced guys have suggestions as to where to put battery,if a PowerSonic PS1270F1 with floating charger is a decent unit, what other components are necessary to make all the connections, etc. How to hold the battery in place also.
Part#2 Unit came with a transom mount 50/200 kHz(40/10degree) transducer.
Garmin tech tells me I can use this for shoot thru hull installation with a slow curing
epoxy(something about putting the ducer in a baggie of water 1st to see if this works properly)Sound right? If so, where's the best place to put the ducer? Forward,
mid-section,aft? Any and all comments would be much appreciated. These many questions would be great to go over with you guys with some brew and munchies
if we could start getting that cenntral location(around Seattle)monthly meeting
going. Let's try to make it happen. I'm frickin' hooked.

I responded to your question about this same topic in this thread:

The Nothing posted pictures of his rigging in this thread:

Also, a quick perusal through the Drillin' & Cuttin' pages will show a few more full installs for FF, Transducer, and Battery setups.

Congrats on your ff purchase fishnut!

On my Navigator I  put the battery in a sturdy zippable sandwich container and keep it suspended and secured on the inside of the hull just behind the wide portion of the A hatch.  I  also had the battery inside of the round hatch bucket for awhile.

I have my ducer just behind the round hatch  (under seat).  Works great for me there.

Hope any of this was helpfull.
Brian

Thanks to all that responded on my post today and to all those who responded on previous posts but my skull was to thick to decode the info. By jove,Watson. I think
I finally got it. The Nothing's "dry" transducer setup looks like the ticket for me and
the rest looks like a piece of cake.
Muchass Gracias
