Hi,

I'll be on Camano Island (west side) over Thanksgiving.

Anyone know what fishing options exist? I'll have my kayak and access to a west side beach. If it's nasty, I'll at least try throwing something from shore.

Does the west side of Camano start getting some steelhead moving through like Whidbey does in early winter?

Thanks in advance for any tips...

Cama Beach?

Yes, on your first question. Blackmouth (immature chinook salmon) are open. I've even picked up a few small ones hucking flies off the beach at South Camano State Park. Flounder and sole might be an option.

I haven't heard of steelhead being picked up in that area- but never say "never". Read a report of someone hooking a decent halibut in that area, last year, which is atypical.

Thanks Pisco.

Any idea on depth for most of the blackmouths if I get out in the kayak?

Also, possible to catch anything from shore? Just immature salmon?

For Blackmouth, you might want to try Elger Bay if the wind is not coming from the south. If you dont have a downrigger, try jiggin Pt Wilson Darts Candlefish in the Green or white versions preferably 2 1/4 oz. When are you planning on fishing? I just might be up for joining you Do you have a FF on board? Keep me posted
