I'm selling my 1.5y/o green/white, fiberglass NDK Explorer HV sea kayak for $2500. Boat is 17'8"x21.5". Ideally suited for someone 5'10/170 - 6'4/220. Perfect for someone interested in multiday touring or coastal day trips. Boat performs when loaded for a 3 week trip, surfing at the coast on a day trip, or touring flatwater. Fast, responsive to edging, and forgiving for someone developing skill. Truly the most versatile sea kayak ever.

I wish I didn't have to sell it, but I find myself needing a more specialized sea kayak for surf, and I'll be sacrificing overall speed and carrying capacity. If you look in sea kayak magazines or watch sea kayak movies, the NDK explorer is the boat you will see more often then anything else, and there is a reason for that.

Boat costs $3395 new. I'm asking $2500.

PM me for pics.

I'll trade you the rest of the half rack of MGD that's in my fridge, and can probably swing it so you could take a stab at this chubby Korean girl I picked up at Old Chicago in Hillsboro.  Cool?

Let me think on that. It's quite a haul. might be able to ship it UPS. If you are really interested, PM me your shipping address and I'll see how much it would cost me.

There may be one Zima-fueled portly Korean chick if he plays his cards right.

Options? No compass or external keel strip or anything like that. It's stock NDK, except I took out the back band because it pinched my arse, and added a closed cell foam back pillar, and added neoprene foam under the foredeck in the knee recesses.

If you would like specs & details, check out http://www.seakayakinguk.com/

from their site:

2008 Sea Kayak Magazine readers poll best extended touring kayak.
The Explorer HV Measurements

LENGTH – 533.5 CM
WIDTH – 54.5  CM
DEPTH – 35 CM
OVERALL VOLUME – 319 LTRS
FRONT HATCH – 73 LTRS
COCKPIT – 152 LTRS
DAY HATCH – 38 LTRS
REAR HATCH – 56 LTRS

Deck: 2.5 oz C.S mat plus foredeck rescue patch of extra 1.5 oz mat.
Hull: 2.5 oz C.S mat plus 8 oz cloth. 2 inch keel strip. Double thickness reinforced bow and stern.
Inside seam: 2 inch diolen plus 3 inch glass cloth.
Outside seam: 1 inch glass cloth.

The Explorer has been designed as our main expedition kayak and has a large carrying capacity. In 2000 it was used on a one-month expedition to Antarctica carrying all supplies with no support. Ideal for the medium to large kayaker wanting to cover distance in rough water.

The Explorer H.V has been designed to facilitate more leg room for the kayaker, by increasing the volume in the cockpit area and modifying the deck mold in the area of the thigh grips (see image).

We have managed to provide an extra 1.5" of extra height between the top of the seat and the underside of the deck. The hull has not been altered. A new seat has been designed for all 2001 kayaks but we are installing the new seat as standard in the Explorer HV.
