Spring chinook salmon forecast for the Columbia River is strongest in 70 years.

In the last couple years the Columbia springer forecast has been very high, but the final count ended up being much lower.  Sounds like the managers have taken this into account to temper their prediction.  We'll have to wait and see.

Hopefully the more kayak-friendly Willamette run will recover this year and show some nice numbers again.
