Those aren't kiwis (New Zealanders), those are yarpies (South Africans).   You can tell by both the accent and the .co.za in the URL posted at the beginning.  They seem to have a penchant for launching in big surf on their surfskis and there are a ton of videos out there documenting it.

I forgot to mention.. cool video.  I do love watching yak carnage vids.  There were a few nice inadvertent backwards landings.

Looks like conditions on the day I decided to learn how to beach launch and land.  Lol!

Now you know why those Sooth Eefrican yaks are built water tight.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

I too have been dumb enough to go out and play around in stuff like that, once ok maybe twice ???.  Even thought about playing in the surf over Thanksgiving but decided it was much warmer inside the bay crabbing..  Needless to say a Fish and Dive is not the perfect surf yak ;D.. I tend to get pushed backwards more than I like ::)

Being pushed back up on the beach like a log, is like the ocean is saying...
