I just read this in this week's 'Guide's Forecast.'

Quote
As mentioned in this space previously, expect dramatic changes in sturgeon regulations and retention opportunities in 2010. New rules will be publicized February 18th.

I don't think 'dramatic changes' bodes well for AOTY point gathering.  Also, does anyone know if we are still under Thursday through Saturday retention days on Oregon sturgeon?  It looks to me like we are not when I look at the 2010 booklet.  Either way, looks like I better get out on the river.

So far they're expecting lower Columbia quota reductions from 35-50%.  Willamette River will also gain its own zoning and quota.

Currently we're still under 2009 rules until Feb 18th.  The book is useless when it comes to sturgeon and springer rules.

The good news is the springers! expect 7-day a week fishing! with 2 fish per day limit! not sure what the take will be, but with those numbers, it'll be a short season

Thanks Isaac.  I see the err of my ways now...looking through the 2010 booklet was just foolish.  I'm embarrassed.

Its just one of those confusing things. Oregon regs/licenses start January 1. Washington regs start in spring.  With shared waters like the Columbia, things just get jumbled up, and, as usual, Oregon concedes to whatever WA/CA decides.
