Amazing he survived such a drop. 
It kinda makes me think of the Darwin Awards with a bit of Evil Knievel mixed in.  :-\

The same reason surfers ride 50' waves and snowboarders drop in avalanche chutes; it's an experience beyond description.
Whitewater kayaking is a blast, some of the best rivers for this kind of kayaking are here in the PacNW.
I'd be out there right now but I've got broken ribs from a downhill mountain bike race............
