I just took a nice long walk on my new beach (recently moved from Beverly Beach - a little further south) and scoped it out for surf perch and razors.

The ocean has laid down so I'll be going out of Depoe Bay tomorrow after the beach clean up to play in my new yak (inaugural voyage).  Maybe Sunday too.

Anyone interested in going along let me know.  I'm thinking around noonish.

I won't be able to make it but if you took some pics I sure wouldn't mind checking them out. ;)

Which yak did you get?  I saw you picking everything out but I didn't bother to look at the model.  Well, enjoy the inaugural voyage and good luck fishing.

Hobie Mirage Adventure.

Dawn's a little early for me.  Maybe I'll see ya taking out with a good fish story or two.  Take some pics.

I'll be signing up for AOTY in the morning before I go.

Well that dident go very good.  Had to beach the yak at bella beach.  The wind came up too strong to paddle back to DP Bay.  Was getting a little rough out there also.  Only picked up a couple black rocks, but did hook into something good and heavy but got off.  Sorry no pics., fighting with the wind too much for that.  BTW I dont reccomend beaching at bella when the surf is that rough unless you have too.  DOUBLE HULI!  Lost some gear too.

Where exactly is Bella Beach? Is it north of Fogarty Beach?

Looks like it's about a mile north of Fogarty Beach on the map.

Were you out by yourself?  Hope you had a VHF radio.  If the wind pushed you that far I'm glad I wasn't there.

I was out by myself.  Had the handheld and PLB.  Not a real hair raising experience or anything, just a drag to get caught in that position.  Imagine the call to the wife to come get me and give me a ride back to the truck.  BTW she said she seen someone takeing a yak out at DP Bay when she stopped to get my shoes.  Was wondering if that was you sniffer?

No, that wasn't me.  I'm in a particularly good place to get advance notice of the wind and did.  Walked down to the beach and saw white caps and decided to do something else.  Just not that fun in heavy wind.

Let me know when you're headed back though.  We'll go park on top of the fish.
