Silver Lake

After living in SW Washington for about 8 years and complaining that I can't find good bass fishing I finally made it up to Silver Lake in Castle Rock today.  Very good trip.  This is a large lake but has a max depth of about 8' 

It was raining most of the time and about 70F.  I found a pair of shorts with a water proof paddle combo to be very comfortable. 

I ended up with 3 bass and 3 crappie for my 4 hours of fishing/paddle time.  I also missed two other bass.  One I lost about three foot from the boat was a very nice bass (I'm guessing heading on the two pound range).  I know good fishin story right......  That was exploring about two miles of shoreline.  There is still a lot to explore.

I launched from what I believe is the only public launch off the lake on the north side.

I used a small spinner bait and a 1/8 small curly tail jig for all my catches.

Congratulations! Silver Lake has a big reputation in this state; it probably gets hammered hard. Seems like most of the serious bass anglers use a lot of Senkos, and the like, rigged wacky. If you consider SMB to be a good target species, the Columbia R has plenty. I'd head up by Washougal, or further, looking for riprap and rocky points. Also, there's lots of bass in E. WA.

P.S. Rainy and 70F sounds like heaven to me, right now. It's been 95-105 for almost 2 weeks, here in the Methow.
