I took my newly purchased Future Beach Trophy 126 out on Hagg Lake Saturday to test it out. I was happy with the way it handled in the windy weather. I don't know what the wind measured in at but it was putting out some nice waves which my Kayak handled w/out any problems. I'm looking forward to getting out and doing some real fishing here in the near future.
My only disapointment came in regards to my FF not working but I half expected that since I only taped it in and didn't use Goop. My Kayak's bottom isn't a flat surface so I was hesitant to goop the transducer w/out knowing if I could yank it out and reposition later. I have a Cuda 300 portable and may just see if I can run the transducer off the back with the suction cup mount (not sure how that's gonna work either since the suction cup is larger in diameter than the stern. I guess we'll find out on my next attempt!
Anyway, I'm stoked to be in the Kayak brotherhood!

p.s. oh and bummed my camera's batteries were dead!

Welcome to the madness.  Figuring out how to rig them is half the fun.  ;D

Remember though, a FF isn't a requirement for catching fish.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

Oh yeah, I just like the FF to determine bottom structure/drop offs etc. I've been fishing for 12 years w/ out one but figured it was time to come into the digital world of fishing. I used to use a variety of methods to figure out depth etc. Things such as visual clues, an anchor rope with knots tied every 10', mental notes during low water years, lots of time on specific bodies of water. I just wanted to expidite my fishing success.
I also learned alot about simplifying what's going on in my kayak as I fish, As a long time bass fisherman it's HARD to not fish with 5 poles or more already tied up w/ different lures! I'm not kidding... I feel naked fishing w/ only 3 lures pre-tied!  ;D

Yea, but it sure makes it alot easier, on the ocean especially. and if you get one with enough buttons, it's fun to play with when yer bored.
