Anyone fished for Steelhead from their kayak on the Cowlitz?

Anybody drifted down the Cowlitz on their kayak?

Do any good?

Put in/ take out locations?

I've done it in a drift boat.  It's VERY fast, high flow, and I'd say dangerous.  BUT, if you have a short yak with no keel, and a good drift anchor system, you're probably all right.

If you don't know the river, I'd advise against it.  Definitely don't try to fish and drift at the same time.  Anchor up and fish would be advice.

I've been considering anchoring up in my inflatable out there.  The fishing is really good right now with 1000+ steelhead returning to the hatchery the previous week.  Most fishing reports are good too.
