Well my fishing buddy finally got back from Iraq, for one week only though, so I had to take him out for some salmon fishing.  I decided to try Richmond Beach instead of Shilshole for once.  First of all how come no one mentioned that park doesn't open tell dawn.  Do you guys cart your yaks from the top or is that gate only over the road on the weekdays?  Oh well after looking around the area for alternative access they opened the gate about 6:20.  It was a nice to paddle in a different area and see new sites.
We paddled my tandem SINK north towards Edmonds.  I hooked a decent size dogfish, hey better than seaweed.  The water was real nice and glassy we didn't see anyone else out there fishing.  I noticed my friends pole moving after quite a long battle he got the fish up, I was happy that I actually netted it and didn't knock it off.  It was a 30" King looked nice but a few days late so off he went, but he was happy.
On our way back from Edmonds I noticed that the water was much shallower than I thought, we were fishing at high tide, that explains the King and Dogfish.  I really need to get a fish finder one of these days.
All in all a beautiful day, I need to get a little camera so I can take some pictures out there.

Just ask Gilla, ;) we'd be happy to give you some info. And I usually take an alternate route @ the end of Richmond Beach Rd. I can PM you the directions if you want.

Good on you for the Chinook.. too bad it's just too late.. but you did hook into one and that's awesome! What were you trolling?

The tide does swing fast and RB has a big shelf that makes the inside really shallow at low. It's nuts on a minus tide!

Thanks Z, my buddy was the one that got the King he was trolling a pink hootchie with white flasher and a 6 oz banana weight, we thought we were going after pinks.  I was using a green and pink coyote spoon I was using the Deep Six 0 and one of those big Al's triangular flashers, of course I only got a dogfish  ;)  I am still getting used to the tide thing, when it is moving even a little piece of seaweed just bends my pole.
I would love the inside info on park entry I drove all around trying to figure something out.  My email should come up when you click on my name on theboard.  Maybe we could have a local get together sometime I would love to learn more from you guys.
