I've got this 300 yd. roll of leaded fishing line (15lb. test I think).  Never used it but thought it might come in handy for some bottom fishing - you know, when you are drifting to fast and can't get the jig to the bottom.  Would this be a good use for it?

Leaded line is really best used for trolling (1' of depth for every 10' of line, IIRC).  I would help SOME with jigging (i've used it halibut fishing at 600' before), but I don't think it'll provide you as much help as you would think.  If you're drifting too fast for your jig, go with a bigger jig.
