I grew up Trout fishing, moved on to hardcore Steelhead and Salmon and always looked down my nose at Bass fishing. Thought I had to start chewing, playing Banjo and talkin' kind of slow and funny. That has all changed. Tried 1st time ever fishing on Lake Goodwin the other day and started with a dark green Senko 4" tube rigged Whacky style. Didn't have a clue what I was doing except for doing some reading on Bass Resource.com and watching an online video. Twitched that sucker off the bottom and hooked to fish but neither stuck. Wind came up, had to get to the hospital to vist Yakchik, so I paddled back to the launch. There, I struck up a conversation with 8theB8 and he was very generous with info and tips and even gave me some gear. Wish others were as giving to newbies. Thank you very much, sir!
Several days later, hit a different lake and used same style and rig and landed 4 SMB's the largest pic included. I'm hooked. Now,dangit,I are one of dem. Hand me the chew. ;) ;D :spittake: :banjo: :banjo:

I hear ya fishnut.  The whole "Bassin Lifestyle" as pitched on TV shows has always left a bad taste in my mouth.  I'm glad you realized how much fun they are.   ;D

BTW:  I hate to tell you but you're still a SMB virgin.....

I thought that looked a little Large-mouth bassish. ;D  The one thing I do really like about catching bass is they have big mouths that are safe to stick your thumb in.  Makes it much easier to get the hook out.

Surely, you cannot be referring to Bill Dance, but to the Basscar circuit!

Was just perusing that site.  Got to the Pro Staff pages and went to West Coast ... http://www.kayakbassfishing.com/prostaff9.aspx

I guess they don't recognize Washington as it doesn't even get a listing.  And of course you need an Alaska Pro Staff because there are so many bass in Alaska.  Just saying ...

That's funny, since i have heard many comments that the Columbia River and its tribs in WA and OR, like the lower Yakima R and the John Day R, and the big C around Hoodsport, just to name a few, are getting to be some of the best, if not THE BEST Smallmouth water in the entire USA!

Fishnut1, you had me LMFAO! :D
