Roy,

I've reserved a campsite at sunset bay Friday night to Monday.  I've been watching the reports for this weekend it looks good.  I'll probally go out 8-9 in the morning on sat and sun unless the ocean takes a turn for the worse.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the conditions. If they hold, I'll be there either Friday or Sat. Maybe third time will be the charm!

Looks like Saturday may be the best conditions. I'll try to be there by 7:30 am since it's going to be a zoo for the holiday!

7:30-8:00 AM is perfect. What time you planning on getting to Sunset Friday Dana? Maybe if it's early enuff i'll come buy to have a beer(still got some left from my wild birthday night ;) ) and BS.

I got some herring, bring some halibut gear, there is a spot i want to try, if nothing else a ling or cabbie will grab it anyway

Ocean Chinook Salmon season will be open also. No more than 2 single point barbless hooks and no more than one lure/bait per line. Doesn't have to be clipped

Lots of options...

Dana, Dave and I launched at about 1/4 to 8 am this morning to rougher then expected seas and from the nw instead of direct w as noaa predicted. We tried the south reef at Sunset but it was just too rough to fish comfortably so we went around to the north side  by the lighthouse and it was much smoother. The fishing was slow at first and picked up to fair after a couple hours.

Dana drove the farthest and caught the most fish, which was cool. He managed the only keeper Ling and an AOTY upgrade and also an upgrade black i believe. good job Dana! I went to Danas campsite this evening for some tasty camp cooked fresh as it gets Ling for dinner. It's was most excellent.

Dave fished his three hours and took off, we fished for 5. I know Dave had a greenling last i talked to him, not sure what else he bagged.

I finally got a keeper Cabbie 17 1/4", caught two, the smaller was 17", i tossed him back. C&R'd a few blacks and 4-5 underlings. Caught a greenling that wasn't much smaller than the Cabbie, an AOTY upgrade.

It was a fun day and i even got a bit of a sunburn on my face! Summers coming!

We will back at it tomorrow, hopefully the conditions don't deteriorate too bad. If it does we'll go to the super secret sub surface structure...

See ya on the water..

I managed to catch my first saltwater fish of 2010, a 15 inch greenling. Caught one underling about 18 inches, and had a few bites. After 3 1/2 hours on the water I gave it up. At least I didn't get skunked like the last two trips!

Here's a couple of pics.
