My knowlege level of kayaking is a -3 on scale of 1-10 but I just got my Hobie Outback and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!  Fished the ocean yesterday and it was very sloppy and I did fine.  Also lots of Hobies there from me the rookie to guys who I totally respected due to thier knowledge and skill.  Thats my 2C worth.

i am also new to the sight and i am in the same boat as frank. currently fishing out of an ok drifter and also a ok malibu 2. i prefer the drifter but it is a very wet ride. i am thinking of selling both and getting either a hobie mirage or the T13. i just saw hobie here in pc and that drive system is sick, but i really love the storage in the T13. any thoughts?

I have both a T13A and an Hobie Mirage Revolution.  Obviously you will give up some storage space to accommodate the drive.  I like the quality, storage, rudder, and hull design of the T13 better, but the mirage drive is awesome.  I am torn in making a recommendation.  The T13 is a much better fishing platform, but the mirage drive makes up for a lot of the weaknesses of the Revo.  If you get a T13 the FIRST modification you should make is adding an aft hatch in the space designed for it.  It will make other modifications like an anchor trolley and cleat much easier.

Speaking of rivets ... I bought 50 of these ...

... some time ago.  I have used 4, 1 test, 1 error, 2 in use.  If anyone needs just a few drop me a PM with your postal address and I'll put them in an envelope.

Cherry rivets are a little different. They have a rubber piece under the head, and the black stem expands like a dry wall screw. just drill the hole just big enough to cram the rivet in.

Any chance you're trying to get rid of a Mini-x?  I'm looking for a small & light boat to throw-n-go for after work fishing.

the one i know for sure is ok big yak. it is a year old and used very little. i think i paid $350 for it plus $100 to ship from seirra trading post. it sits really high in the seat, makes for a dry ride but is kind of awkward.
trying to get the kids to make a decision on the scramblers. i will let you know.

when i set my malibu with rod holders and some extra eyelets i used #12 ss screws, wait i know. first i coated the the bottom of the the rod holder or eyelet with 5200 marine adhesive then dipped the screw tip in 5200 before i sunk. so far so good. some of the eyelets are for the seat and i am 6`2 230 and they get used. just be sure to have some spirits or even acetone to clean up excess.
