A late report from a recent fishing trip with the family to southern Oregon. Lake is amazingly beautiful and sits up pretty high in the sky at 5200 feet. I spent 4 o'july up there with the family and enjoyed the place, BIG TIME! After a 2 hour cruise around 60% of the lake I realized early on that it was much shallower then I had expected with a 10foot depth at 100 feet off bank for most of the lake. I did find some stretched on the west side of the lake that were showing 40-45' deep at the deepest. This lake is also one of a handful in Oregon that allows 24hour a day fishing. Most species that are stocked are rainbows and large browns, Kokanee, LMB, crappie and few others. Weather was beautiful and even saw an unexpected F15 flyover while yak fishing on the 4th. I had fun breaking out the 5wt fly rod and catching "many" of these 10-11 inches stocked rainbows using a size 12-18 elk hair caddis and size 16 orange and yellow stimulator's way up past dark. Also tried my luck at trolling a glow n'dark spinner and landed a couple at the wee hours of night. Good times at Lake of the woods.
