The fish is perpendicular to the line the moment it turns and that would be when the line catches in it's mouth.

I have a harder time believing the fish would turn, then the hook would just happen to land in the fishes mouth.  Well, at least on a consistent basis.

Only one way to find out though.  Put that underwater camera on your downrigger!!!

I've been reading that a slow troll (1 - 1.5mph) is best at 50-80 ft.... lower as the morning temps rise.  All this talk has got me excited.

More than likely i'll be launching at the Horseshoe Cove Campground around 6am

Saw this posted on Facebook:

Dave's Sports Shop -  Baker Lake Sockeye: Dave and crew caught 5 fish, 5-8lbs each, all before 9am, using a bare red/pink hook or trimmed pink hootchie, trolling .6 - 1.0 mph, behind a size 0/0 or 0 dodger with a 8-14" leader. Downrigger works best, 35-50 feet deep, otherwise a 6 or 8oz sinker 25-35 strips down (60-80 feet of line). Early morning or late evening is best. Yup, that means leaving at 4am! 2hr drive from Lynden. :) Enjoy!

I'm thinking of going early Friday morning. I'm not sure where to launch yet...probably mid to north end of the lake. Look for a yellow Hobie Outback.

I'll be at Shannon Creek Campground....  ... I'll be on a red OK w/ son leading the way.

Read this two day fishing report... tomorrow sounds promising.

It was good to meet you there, flipexed.

The scenery was gorgeous! I heard some people limited. Others, like me, went away with just a nice day on the lake. The people who hooked/landed fish were mostly using pink hoochies with red hooks @ 40-50ft depth.

I took a bunch of pics, but unfortunately, my camera is awol.  :'(

We were part of the group that had a nice day on the lake.  Had the right rigs but unfortunately came up empty; My son had a great time paddling nonetheless.  You aren't kidding the scenery was awesome.

I like your hobie.... you looked to be navigating the lake so effortlessly.  Now I know what to ask for Xmas :)

Here's a pic of the mountain

The lake was clear and beautiful
