Is this a good place for  salmon fishing?
Planing on really early start on Saturday morning from Picnic Point. Dropping couple of crab pots too. Anybody interested?

Just keep in mind that the gates at Picnic Point don't open until 7AM and parking outside the gates isn't an option.  Great place to crab.  Haven't caught a salmon there yet though.  I'm going to be hitting Edmonds.

from Salmon University :

Opened for Salmon July 16
Hatchery King Salmon Fishing thru August 31

Possession Bar remains the go to spot. The tides are great for the early morning bite again this week. We are still usingTomic plugs, best plug numbers have been 5 inch 602, 603, and 600. Some are being caught on 4 inch plugs as well.

Flasher and peanut butter Squid is also working Locate the bait and put the plug on the bottom or skim it over the top of the bait, which has been from 120 feet to 180 feet deep.

and:
WOW, that's a ton of bait", Kathy exclaimed as the Fishtale 2 made its first pass near the Green Can off the West Side of Possession on Saturday. We got out to the area at mid-morning ready to fish the strong incoming tide that would push the bait into the shallows for the King feast when the bite turned on. We tried to stay on the bait as it was slowly being forced in to the shallower 50-90 feet of water up on the Bar. It wasn't long and we tricked a huge pig into lunching on a green Ace-Hi fly tied 32 inches in back of a green/glow flasher. Near the boat, we could see it was a monster with a fin, so we put the net away and prepared for the release. Try to make your release an "art form".......1) Put the net away......2) Do not handle the fish or pull it out of the water.......3) Take hold of the leader in front of the hook and use a hook release to gently remove the hook.....4) Watch the beauty, swim off......5) Hi-5's all around.

We managed a few more of these finned fish before finally picking out two that would be ready for the BBQ. We followed the same agenda on Sunday still focusing on the massive bait balls in 60-80 feet of water. The Ace-Hi in the mud produced the best and we were lucky to hit the dock with a couple of limits four hours later. One thing to remember when traveling on a buddy's boat......BRING YOUR LICENSE. It is not as much fun to be out there fishing with no rod in the water......and getting constant grief from the captain!

Over all the reports have been spotty, but reports of nice early morning catches off of Edmonds and Kingston have also been reported. Remember, the fish are not always where the fleet of boats are, so don't hesitate this time of year to do a bit of scouting where other haven't travelled. Go get 'em!

Once it gets to mid September the 7 AM gate opening isn't so bad. Don't even think about parking just outside the gate as you'll get a ticket or busted windows. By mid September the silvers have moved across and are all along the shoreline from the shipwreck to the north and south across Browns Bay to Edmonds.

Will probably be launching from the Edmonds marina tomorrow AM around 630 or 7.  Not many other places to launch from because they don't allow poles, nets, etc on boats launching/landing at the various beaches in Edmonds.  I think there is a small area or two where you can but it is a pain to figure out where it is allowed so it is just easier launching from the marina.  I plan on launching near Anthony's.  The more the merrier!
