Anyone fishing the Duwamish River for coho?  Heard that guys are getting fish using downriggers down about 15 feet.  Pulling a Brad's Wiggle wart off the back.  Thinking of launching at the boat launch under the 1st Ave Bridge.

When are you going? I would like to try that area sometime this season. How's the current?...probably depends on tides?

My office is right on it (102nd ST) and we've been feeling it out the past few days.  I'll be down there sans-kayak early in the morning next week and around lunchtime waving my bug wand.

From the firsthand reports I heard, it seems there are a decent number of hookups but very few have been actually landed.  :-\

Hi,

What are the regs there this time of the year?  Are the Elliot Bay special regs in place or is it all open for Coho now?  The regs in this area are always trick to decipher.  I work nect to Pier 88 and usualy have my Yak on the car so if Elliot Bay is open I am primed for action.  Yes I will get off my ass and read the regs myself as well.

Fish? What fish?  ???

We launched from 1st Ave Bridge and went up river a little past S 102nd St bridge. Throughout the journey I saw maybe 5-6 fish jump and only marked another dozen or so. A bunch (maybe 8 or so) native American boats were anchored on different sections of the river waiting for 6pm to start netting. I saw one boat picked up anchor and sped up river, then another boat went after it with a blue light flashing. It turned out to be a sheriff's boat. Speeding on a river? Later found out that one other boat was cited for expired boat tags.

As for fishing, we were pulling Brad's Wigglers and I also tried a Blue Fox spoon. Between the three of us, we didn't get a single bite. I did not witness anyone else hooking a fish...mostly snags.

Squidding at Alki last night was good though.  ;D

Too bad about the coho. Squidding? I don't think we've had a squidding report. Care to post one? Sounds interesting.

Good fishing with you Pixster.  Too bad we didn't get any fish.

I read online that there were 130 fished weighed in on Saturday for the Edmond's Coho Derby out of 1,000 tix sold.  Winner was a 13.8 lb coho.  Sounds like it's still early.  Hope to get out on the salt this week.
