The Siuslaw has been jumping with Silvers the last couple of days, but since there are no hatchery fish here, I decided to travel south and give the Umpqua a try. I launched about noon in Winchester Bay, and fished the incoming tide. Having never fished Windy Bay for salmon, it took a while to find the fish. There were very few boats fishing salmon, but tons of crab fishermen. I finally saw some fish jumping, and some boats trolling. Once I got into the groove, I managed to catch and release 3 nice coho in less that 3 hours. Actually it was 4 if you count the 8 incher that latched onto my Blue Fox!. Overall, an absolutely beautiful day on the water. Didn't get many photos, but here's one of my second fish. The best part of the day, no furbags to contend with!

You should think about coming down to the Coquille. You can keep wild Coho until the 1200 fish quota is met. I'll be there marking a wild one on my card!

I didnt know that!   Where do you put in on the Coquille? Also, do you try to fish at a certain tide?

I heard there at 20% of quota, whether or not that's true or not i have no idea, i was told by a fisherman after all.

I put in at Rocky Point boat launch about 2 hours before whatever tide is happening in the morning usually, it tends to get kinda windy there in the afternoon.. If it's coming to high i just ride it up for 2 hours then ride the tide back out for 2 hours. and do the opposite for outgoing.

It has been a bit slow but i'm not giving up until i get a wild one.
