from Olson's Sept 16:

THE SILVERS ARE HERE!! the count from the A.M. fish checker this morning from our docks was 19 boats 75 fish. Most people are heading strait out trolling. They are also going towards the Sekiu river and using all varities of techniques. We have had lots of fish in the 12-18 lbs range. there have been lots of happy fishermen here today. I will update again tonight when I get the fish count back from the checkers on our docks.

The Puyallup and Carbon rivers are closing on Monday because the hatchery is afraid it will not meet egg take goals.  So much for a good return there.  Everything in the lower sound has been abyssmal except skokomish.

Rob and I put in 7 hours in the Arima today----too rough for him to pedal over.  Nada except about 6 little shakers.  5 boats at Point Defiance, nada.  Looks pretty grim for area 11 silvers.  damn!!!

What model of Arima do you/Rob have?  Like it?  Recommend it?  I've lusted after one of the HT models for some time.

Got a late start, the gate to point Robinson parking lot was locked until 0800.  I talked to a woman I know who was also headed down to the lot, she said her hubby called from the Fauntleroy ferry, said a pod of 12 orcas passed under the ferry, headed south.
I did not see them, they travel pretty fast.  Got launched a few minutes after 8, and pedaled around till 11, dragging a plug cut behind a small deep 6.  Talked to a few pbs around the Point, they also were fishless.

Demonick---I have a 15foot Sea Hunter, and love it.  Would not buy anything bigger, as it is a joy to launch and retrieve, powered with 50hp Honda---just right, and get about 8 mpg with a mix of  trolling and running about..I've seen a number of Arimas on Craigslist the fall, there's one I looked at in Anacortes with no motor for $2500 with trailer, in nice shape---a 1984 Sea Hunter 15foot.  A steal!

Islandson-----I may head up to Port Angeles this weekend for some coho action, it's really dead in area 11.  Point No Point also possible----anybody been there recently??  Is it open???
