I am going to head down to the pier on Ruston Way (Les Davis Pier) tonight trying to be there around 730.  I have a light and battery set up I think will work but not 100%.  Going to give it a shot since it is suppose to be so warm tonight thought it would be nice to go out and not freeze after the sun goes down.  Anyone want to join me?

The squid and regulars kicked our butts..... I think Zee got one. I went home when it started raining knowing it just wasn't my night. Guy next to me caught caught 25 plus it the time I was there. Still early in the season.

That has been my experience in my previous humble attempts at squid fishing. There are subtleties to every type of fishing, at least I try to find consolation on that and picture my early years fishing for salmon...I had no idea what I was doing! Then again, that's what it's called "fishing" and not "catching".

Well I went and met up with my friend and we fished for about two hours with nothing to show.  There were about 6-8 others fishing it was pretty slow for most.  A couple were caught about 10-15 were caught mostly by two people.  I did however find out there is one outlet that will power about 4-5 lights, good to know for next time.  I maybe going out tomorrow or any other night if anyone is interested let me know.  Oh yeah it was kinda weird to be out on a pier almost into October and have to almost be in shorts and a t-shirt.  It was like 65+ with I nice cool breeze and little humidity unlike everywhere away from the water.

Where was the "hot" spot on the pier? Late last season (my first at squidding), I had good luck at the following points on the pier:
     +-----------------------------------------------------+
     |    3                                                                     |
     |                             2            4                             5|
     +------------------------+   +------------------------+

                                         |   |

Thanks Pixster I went again tonight and caught two in 2.5 hours my friend got 5 in 2 hrs.  We have been jigging across from 2 facing the bay.  Tonight was better then last night seemed like everyone caught something and it was amazing to see a swarm of them swim across our lights everyone caught lots quickly then slow again.  Either way it was fun and plan to do it some more this winter.
