We have a new shop here in Medford that sells Hobies, and my wife and I were in looking at them yesterday. I find that Mirage Drive simply fascinating. But I'll have to admit to sticker shock. The Pro Angler was something like $2,600! Nice boat, though.

At first it seems high, but after you spend a day or two zipping around in the Hobie, the sticker shock pretty much goes away.

The Outback, Revo, and Adventure are all under $2000, yet come with more goodies than your average SOT kayak.

Apparently Hobie retailers are not allowed to discount their products because I see the same prices regardless of the retail location.  My point being, buy Hobies locally, because should you have an issue you have a throat to choke.

If you can come up with the cash you won't ever look back!  Our 2 new Revo's are just awesome rides.  Just few small bass in local lakes so far, but we are starting to get the gear dialed in, the boat rigging just right, and the utility trailer modifications completed.

One other note!  Hobie prices go up on 9-1-10 according to an email I received from my dealer.  You will probably save some money if you order or buy one quickly....

I purchased two Hobie Pro Anglers end of season. If you can wait there are some deals to be had.  Call around to local Hobie dealerships in late August.  Chances are if they have inventory, they need to clear it before the new comes in.  I ended up paying $1850 for my PA's (brand new) but had to wait until Labor Day to get them.

I was going to go look at the Adventure that was for sale in Newport, but it was sold the day before I got down there. Now I'm pretty sure I don't want one, but here is a useful nugget I received from Karen Steele at Hobie for determining the production date of their kayaks if anybody is going to check out a used one.

| CCM | B | 1234 | A | 7 | 08)

In the above example above, the 7 would be the Production Year which is 2007 and the 08 would be the Model Year.

That Newport boat was a great deal, $1400 for a boat that was in the water twice.  Had a sail, too...
