Buddy Rob and I went to Ilwaco for photo session this past Monday, saw a guy with a 12' surf rod carrying a stringer of decent sied perch.  That was actually at the north jetty---gorgeous day!! pic follows

Here's the wave action from the jetty---only one guy surf fishing, from shore, not the jetty

I should have read one post back .. yeah, that's the north jetty at ilwaco.  You know ... you can get out on that rocks under the lighthouse for some pretty good surf perch fishing.   ;)

Anyhow, all this rambling is just about finding the right sized gear. Sometimes the surf conditions will influence this choice.

Not rambling, its good info.  I have always wanted to try surf perch fishing.  I figured it's something I could do with my 4 and 6 year old boys. hey are to impatient to sit on a Yak for very long.

I wasn't close enough to see the guy's setup  very well----nice size fish, though....I was surprised not to see anyone fishing off the jetty, it was about an hour after high tide.
