Sturgeon below Willamette Falls is closed in about 25 min (1hr after sunset)

Will reopen on Jan 1

MAJOR suckage... that's what we get when they give the willamette a 3500 fish quota

Thanks I.  Agreed on the suckage factor.  Not for the meat, but for the AOTY.
 
This is exactly the scenario which makes the retention rule of AOTY such a bummer.  We can expect more of this in the future for more species.  A C&R allowable criteria would be better in my opinion.  Just food for thought for next year's rule makers

Major bummer. 

I wonder how close they get when they estimate their numbers....  I know they establish angler success rate and then extrapolate number of rods per day etc etc.  I always wonder how close this gets them either over or under the set quota.    My boat retained 7 keepers from Thrus-Sat and not one of us talked to a fish checker. They must account for this?  Would be fun to see some actual hard data.

I just bought a new rod today specifically for sturgeon. ???   And some heavier weights.
