This year was good and bad. The good is that I was finally able to move away from California to beautiful Coeur d'Alene.  ;D
The bad is that the only thing I miss about California is the fishing. Even worse, because of the timing of the move and starting a new job, my yak hasn't been in salt water since March and my freezer only has trout and steelhead in it.  :'(

So, come hell or high water I'm spending a week on the Washington coast (or maybe Oregon coast?) this summer for the sole purpose of camping and rockfishing. The only thing I am unsure of is when to go. Obviously conditions can change and I know all about that. But I would like some advice on when the height of the rockfishing season typically occurs. In NorCal the best time was typically July into August. Does that hold true up here?

I'll have to start scheduling my vacation early in 2011, so I'd like to be able to pic a week or two to block out with my boss. Another bonus would be if I could time my trip to coincide with an NWKA event. I need to investigate if the crew up north knows how to throw an event like NCKA  :headbang:

Sounds like a perfect time to set up a NWKA Hobuck/Neah Bay Event. We would have options for a little bid of every thing. Surf launches, boat ramp launches ... very protected water wide open water. Tent camping grounds, RV hook ups or cabins for camping.

I fished Aug, Sept, and Oct and always had great fishing.
