Been looking to get into Kayak Fishing in the Northwest, but have no idea where to start. Looking for a used kayak, and someone to show me around before I set off by myself. Thanks.

Can't help much with the used boat part, but if you are in the south sound area you are more than welcome to join me whenever. It's kind of slow right now, but I still get out at least once a week or so. Just shoot me a PM sometime.

ravdakot, what are you fishing for when you do out at this time of year?  Fresh, salt, sound, lake, or river?

Welcome!  Seems like it's been a while since we've had an intro post - it's refreshing to see!   :hello:

What general area are you located in?  If you're in the Portland area, Next Adventure has rental or demo boats for cheap if you're not sure of what kind of boat you want.  There are plenty of people to head out with as well when the weather starts cooperating.

Welcome to the cure! If you're in the Seattle area Kayak Academy rents kayaks and drysuits so all you need to add is some fishing equipment and you're set. http://www.kayakacademy.com

In the last month we've targetted:

Chum in the sound (but the wind was kicking around 20 knots and the temp was 35 degrees)
Trout and Kokanee on American Lake
Steelhead on the Wynoochee River

We were going to target Chum again last weekend, but I bought a bow and he had gotten a bow for his wife the day prior, so we wussed out and tuned them instead.

Yeah, about what Lee said. Flounder are always an option too. Whenever I just want fish for the table I'll beat up on a few. Gonna be targeting primarily steelhead for the next 6-8 weeks though. Doing some crabbing during the week next week, so prob some flounder fishing too while I pass the time.
