i came across a pelican castaway 116. great price 400$. i have read some good and some bad reviews, so im not sure i just wanted to hear what everyones has to say on the matter. i really want to get out and bang some lings, halibut and rockfish along the oregon coast. will this yak work? or should i just save my money and get something better?

I know nothing about this model, but found this review feedback section on Paddling.net while looking up the Pelican Castaway 116 to see what it was.
For the ocean I'd save for a bit more quality IMO.  :-\

i think you are right. if im going to to be out in the ocean im going to need a quality yak. thanks for the info.

If you are on a budget, keep your eyes peeled or even put out a list of kayaks that you are interested in here and one will pop up eventually that should suit your price range.

Seems like there is always someone selling theirs to upgrade, selling off a unit that was won at a tournament, or just has too many kayaks in the quiver.
