The proposed reserves -- at Cape Falcon, Cascade Head near Lincoln City and Cape Perpetua near Yachats -- will now move to the governor and to the Legislature for possible approval in next year's session.

If approved, the three reserves in Oregon's territorial sea would add to the state's first two: Redfish Rocks near Port Orford and Otter Rocks near Depoe Bay, both scheduled to take effect in June.

In the spirit of the old addage "When life hands you lemmons, make lemonade", We may have a prime opportunity to sample and document what will soon be forbidden fruit.  Anybody else interested in exercising a freedom which will soon be lost?

I'm pretty familiar with Cape Falcon and can provide logistics for fishing this Marine Reserve.  Anybody have enough of a handle on the other two to provide the same?

I'm down for Cape Falcon and Otter Rock for sure.  The other ones are a little far, but if I get approval for a camping trip, I'd love to hit them up too.

The Cascade Head reserve is easily accessed via the Salmon river "bar" pending decent ocean conditions.  A  beach camping road trip "farewell tour" of these spots would be kinda cool in a sad way :'(  I'd be down for it.   Be the last guys to fish them, possibly forever......

Woah, woah, woah... hang on.  Forever is a long time dude.  We just have to hang around long enough for The Revolution to roll through town.   We'll probably get access back then.   ;D

Forever IS a long time but..... If we can't currently reign in this runaway horse what chance do we have to completely turn it around in the future?

I personally think some reserves are a good idea on several levels.  However its just sad and frustrating how the process is progressing, often excluding stake holders and not considering "outside the box"options that might allow activities like fishing/freediving from human powered craft etc.

I'm in.

Although it would be a bummer to know while you're there you most likely can't ever come back.
