I did get a few positive reports from area 11 this past week. These reports were from the slag pile area and in toward Commencement Bay with blackmouth to 8 Pounds.   Fishing flashers and small spoons like the coho killer, just off the bottom.  As of the 1st of January Area 11 closes for a month and will reopen February 1st.

Meanwhile the squid fishing at all docks to include the Les Davis Pier, Dash Point, Redondo and Des Moines remains good, even to first time squidders. Jigs are flying off the shelf at Sportco and Outdoor Emporium. Local squid are very good eating or make one of the best bottom fish baits you can get.

Anyone fish for squid during the day?  I've only squidded in the dark.  Most of the jigs are phosphorescent, or even contain LEDs.  Seems jigging deep might work.

I've caught them in the daytime, off the bottom.  They seem to run bigger during daylight hours.

Interesting topic. I'd like to try it from a kayak. Looked around & found a squid fishing forum & a squid jig sales site.
