The ebb current through there can be pretty serious. 2ndflooryak and I were out past the end of the jetty with CHM one day this summer when the tide started to ebb. Got pretty serious in a hurry!! 2ndFY found himself upside down drifting for Hawaii, and I was in no position to help. It was all I could do to not end up in the same situation. Luckily he was able to self rescue and rally in the blink of an eye. All that was lost was his fishing pole. He had a float on it, but it was snagged on the submerged jetty when he was capsized so the current took it strait under. That was one of the longest paddles of my life!! Once we were back inside the jetty we were able to get out of the current a little, but my GPS was reading .01-1 MPH while I was damn near sprinting to get back to that point. We really should have taken notice when CHM said it was getting a bit exciting for him and headed in before the ebb got so strong. Take notes, that guy knows the jetty!! Next time I'm out that way you can bet I'll be fishing the incoming tide.

Bouncing gulp jigs off bottom structure for Rockfish, lings, and cabs. 2FY ended up with one red Irish lord right before his surprise hull inspection. Was a slow day.
