Been lurking around the site for the last couple weeks, finally decided to join, and just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.

I am new to kayak fishing, recently gave up on the float tube, and can't wait for the better weather for spring bass fishing. Looking forward to floating some rivers for Smallies and hitting the Pot Holes for the Bucket Mouths.

I managed to aquire a very nice Tarpon 120, and am looking for ideas and ways to customize it to fit my fishing style. If you have suggestions, please feel free to speak up.

I wanted to express my appreciation to those that host and manage the site, as it has proven to be a valuable resource to me.

Welcome to the forum.  What are your fishing styles?  From the fish you mentioned you are probably not trolling much.  Want to anchor, use a fish finder and/or GPS?

I have focused on bass fishing from a float tube for the last few years. Mostly on the ponds in eastern washington, but occasionally floating the Yakima for Smallmouth. I will most likely take this summer to familiarize myself with the yak before putting it on the Yakima River. But I am really looking forward to that trip.

I want to install an anchor (would love some suggestions for this) that will be useable on both ponds and rivers. Sometimes the wind on the ponds over there can be a little challenging.  :)

I will be installing a GPS for getting way back into the ponds, and I plan on doing long trips (4-7 days) so it should come in handy for staying where I need to be.

I'm not certain that a fishfinder is going to be helpful in the ponds a rivers I fish, but I am open to suggestions. Most of the ponds over there are relatively shallow, but I am unfamilar with using a fishfinder. Perhaps it would come in handy.

Welcome! Check out the new 3D side imaging FFs, I would think they would be awsome for the lakes and ponds fishing bass and the like.

Welcome Roach, I am mostly fishing in Eastern WA myself.  I am not much of a bass fisherman (I have never really targeted bass anyway) but would love to learn.  I am in the Spokane area, some good Bass hookups up here from what many folks tell me.  Loon Lake and Long lake both produce well for bass, as well as Newman.  I mostly am a trout guy as that is what i like to eat.  We should try to get a excursion for the Eastern WA, ID guys together.  There has been some talk about a Lake Roosevelt trip which is good for Trout, Bass and Walleye among other species.
When in doubt, throw a line out!
