Hit the river at the crack of 10:30 this morning.  Seemed like I just couldn't get things together in time for an early launch.  The SE wind was a bit stronger than predicted and the high muddy water had me swirling in circles.

Picked up a few shakers here and there as I moved around trying to find a spot where I could hold straight without sitting in the travel lanes of the big trees.  There was some scary wood moving down the river today!  Never did find a spot that didn't send me on a merry go round.

I'd been dragging around the same bait for a while, too lazy to change it out.  Already caught 2 shakers on it and with DC's stories of multiple days and multiple fish per bait on the Gothic Postage Stamp I was still confident.

Fighting the wind and eddy, I held position by brute force.  While losing another paddle battle I saw some motion on the rod tip and swung (yet again) for the trees.  It felt like a little hot dog shaker so I burned it up to my bait back in the water ASAP.  As it neared the surface I watched my line suddenly change direction as a nice little keeper launched out of the water.  10min and 2 drag burning dives back to the depths later I had her in my lap.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

Congrats on the keeper, and way to sneak by me by less than an inch.   One of these days days one of us is going to get an oversized fish.  Hopefully the next sturgeon report has one.

Great work spot. That's a nice fish. The river is running high right now. I attempted last night from 4:30-6, but only brought up shakers. Nice way to start the years AOTY.

Congrats on the keeper and scoring some AOTY points.  Its a nice looking fish.

I was hoping to get out there myself yesterday or today, but it looks like it won't be happening.  I will have to try the Columbia I guess. :'(

Hey Jerrol, I was kinda bummed when I saw your post about the lower MC.  Would have been a good chance to fish with you again.  I'd posted a notice about Friday on CBY's trip thread.  I usually only have Sundays.  If you ever wanna join, hit me up.

Andrew, YOU da man.  I learned a ton fishing with you!   :notworthy:

The rest of you.....  Get out there and get one before the season is over!  You've still got about 3 hours left.
