OK, not feeling the whole write-up thinh at this moment but had to put this video up real quick. We were gonna launch and go out for Halibut, ended up with two wet and one disabled..

I'll let the guys fill in the blanks, but i didn't see Anthony for at least 2 minutes after he dumped, i was pretty freaked, running down the beach jumping up and down, signaling to Dana that i couldn't see him. finally saw him 75 yards down the beach bobbing with his kayak. Boy what a relief.. Got some video but it far away...

Then we went to Depoe. I couldn't boat a fish to save my life but did get some footage of a stubborn little ling that just didn't want to let go...Had the camera right in his face, gues he don't mind the papparazi. even when his head broke the surface he took 5 more seconds to release.

See ya on the water..
Roy

As my kids would say:  "You got Powned!"   >:D

The ocean is a harsh mistress.  You never know for sure how things will turn out until you've toweled off and kisser her good-bye.

I think we all want to know more about the "and one disabled" comment.....

Glad y'all made it back safe!!!!

We "toweled off" and went to Depoe Bay after having a yard sale in the surf zone.

What the Video didn't show when I turned around to come back in I also huli'd trying to get back to LB.   This was the first time I've Huli'd.   Neither of us lost any gear we did have to pick some up that was floating.  I was lucky I didn't lose anything.  I will secure gear a little better the next time I do a surf launch.  This was a good learning experience for me.

Here are a couple pics from Depoe Bay.

Wow.  I better take out all references about bad weather from my report I am trying to post on our halibut attempt.  We got blown off for a few hours so it was marginal at times but nothing like that!  Our weather would be considered small pond stuff compared to that.

Yeah that was a little nuts. The minus tide made for strong currents. I was in the water for a little longer than I cared to be. I was being pulled South, and it was a fight to get back to the sand. I think some additional scouting could have found us a better launch site.

Thanks Yaksurf for picking up some of my yardsale, and thanks CBY for helping me out of the water and getting video of my embarrassing escapade.

The current and wind made for a tough day fishing in DB. I started with 6 ounces but then switched to 10 to stay down in the kill zone. Took 2 lings 24" & 25" and one 17" black.

The halibut are safe for now, but better believe I'll be back!

way to get back into saddle. you have definitely paid your dues the past couple of years. it is a statement of a high level of preparedness and a statement of good safety practices. that's badass in my book.

Holy honkin' horse hockey! Yeah, that looked brutal. Glad you guys are ok. Also glad I went out at Sunset. Constant wind 10-15 out of the NW & choppy water made me work to maintain position, but got 5 keepers for the effort as well as 2 c&r underlings. Wind made pictures problematic. 1 keeper ling & 4 nice blacks (couple 20"+)
