Well, I finally made it down to Simpson Reef today and it didn't dissapoint. There was a split current that made it both hard and easy both ways, the first half of the trip back i was barely making 1.3 MPH but then suddenly i was going 3.5 MPH,that was a nice relief.

The blacks were finning the surface when i arrived and the action was fast and furious for a couple hours. I caught fish after fish until my arm felt like it was gonna fall off, one of those was over 21  inches long.

I caught numerous Lings. about half under 22 and half a bit over, the lasrgest was 24.5 and even managed a barely legal cabby. Released all but one nice blue ling and four nice blacks

It was about a 50  fish day and i can feel it, boy am i sore.  i hope this means the fishing season is finally on!

Losing that monster Ling yesterday stillhurts but today sure made it a lot better..

See ya on the water..
Roy

Uhmmmm.... PFD?

Water looks smooth and that light tackle looks like fun!

Glad you made it down to Simpson Reef.  That looked like a lot of fun on light gear.  How long did it take to peddle down to Simpson's?  Walter is still out there.

CBY. What a difference a day makes. Where is the gaff, not to mention your PFD ::) ? Would be interesting if your camera caught you taking a spill in the salt without it. You've officially been suspended from the ORC :police:

The gaff was on the boat for sure,i think the pfd was laying on top of it. I only use the for hitchhikers that are large so i can CPR most. I was overheating on the way down so i took the PFD off, forgot to put it back on for a while..

I dropped my normal topwater pole overboard earlier this year so i have been using the one a little smaller even and it has been a blast. I should take my ultra light out there.  It took about 45 minutes or so toget down there, i speed trolled on the way down and hooked up a couple fish so that slowed  me down a bit.

Who's walter?

See ya on the water..
