Hauled the Hobie up to the strait, heard they were nailing big kings.  Put the Hobie in at Freshwater Bay thursday afternoon, it was very sporty, to say the least---5 foot swell with 3-4 foot wind waves,
The launch was very well protected from the NW wind, so no problem getting out to Bachelor Rock, but that's where the whitecaps were.  With the amount of incoming current, it was very hard to hold
position, and I needed 2 1/2 oz jigs to get down.  No love, no phish!   Finally called it a day when the pb's were coming in, saying it was too choppy for comfort.    A friend took me out in his HiLaker next day, we got
2 big (8-12#) silvers with fins  >:(  4 kings from 8-28 lbs (2 went back, one with caudal fin, one a longline release)  and a limit of big pinks each.  The pinks were much bigger than the 2009 run, the king bite was around 000-0800, and the pinks came on about 10AM.  No porn, left the camera in the truck, and anyway they weren't kayak caught.  There were 6 other kayak fishers on Friday, none were NWKA, and I did not see them
land anything.   I've heard the pinks are in the south sound now, will give it a shot tomorrow and will take the U/W camera along.  Will launch from Manzanita Beach on Vashon around 10AM.

Any luck on your Vashon trip? I live in Olalla directly across from Lisabuella and was interested in trying the Vashon side of Colvos. Any tips?

1 nice king tht had to go back, not a clipped fish.  3 pinks north of Manzanita beach.  Friend Lars got 4 pinks today at Piner Point.   Just look for the jumpers along the shore in 10-15 feet of water, or look for boats anchored near shore.
