It seems alot of you guys up here fish the rivers, and in my area, that is about all there is, The Snake is in my back yard, so I seem to fish it most, and some of the other rivers I am interested in trying do have some Minor Class 2 rapids, not sure I want to attempt in my Tarpon 14', Suggestions?

Fishin'-T has told me he really likes his FnD for river work. I'd think anything short, maneuverable, and able to carry your load would work.

I just went through the same decision process (First time kayak owner). Seems most of the river only folks choose a 10 or 12 foot kayak depending on the weight to be carried. For me @ 215lbs and given the features I was looking for, I narrowed my list to 3.

1) Heritage Redfish 12 (which I did purchase)
2) Native Watercraft Manta Ray 12
3) Wilderness systems Tarpon 120

I have read a few posts where a 14' sot yak was used in rivers, but I don't recall how fast or narrow the channel was. For up to class 2 rapids, some folks use thigh straps to have better control of the sot yak during tough manuvering. No personal experiance myself, just what I have read...

Good luck on your search!
