I will be camping at Kellers Ferry on Lake Roosevelt at the end of the month.  The plan is to spend a couple days fishing from the kayaks (me and my girl).  I have never been fishing there, but have heard good things about the fishing there.  Is anyone familiar with this area of the lake? any suggestions for hooking up with some fish? where i should head, techniques i should try? I was thinking of trying Jigs on the bottom for walleye, possible worm harness and bottom bouncer.  i was also thinking of trying the old mini jig and bobber for perch and crappie.  And of course try out some topwater action for some bass, as well as throwing carolina rigged senko.  Any hints on areas to hit, or techniques to use qould be much appreciated.  If you dont want to advertise your favorite spot here, send me a pm, i'm not going to advertise, i just want to catch some fish with my girl for a successful camping outing.
Cheers!

It's been a few years, but just south of the main camp ground, there is a tire along the shoreline. I know a lot of guys used to troll from the tire and then down lake from there for trout. Also, the Sanpoil, take the ferry across, there is a place to launch just as you get off the ferry and head up the hill. Boats have always trolled both sides of that river up and down it completely to where it enters the Lake.

Mary and I fished Lake Roosevelt a couple or 5 years back, caught many nice trout, a 5# smallie, and an 8# walleye.  Other than that....

from "Go Fishin":

Although a state highway runs right along its banks for easy access, this pretty little river provides surprisingly good trout catches. Pan-size rainbows constitute most of the action on the lower portion of the river, with a few brookies mixed in along the upper part of the main river and the West Fork. But don't be surprised if you turn up an occasional rainbow of two or three pounds. This food-rich stream with lots of good trout cover does produce more than its share of what most Northwesterners would consider trophy-class trout. The section of the San Poil from Nineteen Mile bridge north to the reservation boundary is open to catch-and-release fishing only, with artificial lures and barbless hooks required.

Besides trout, the creek has a fair population of whitefish, but since it's closed in the winter, the fishery isn't what it might be. Walleyes have made their way up into the lower reaches of the river from Lake Roosevelt, and a night crawler rolled along the bottom of a deep pool might just turn up one of these hungry predators.

Most of the San Poil is within the boundaries of the Colville Indian Reservation, where a tribal angling permit is required. The cost is $7.50 for a one-day permit, $18 for a three-day permit, $25 for seven days, and $35 for the year, valid January 1 through December 31. The permits, as well as tribal angling regulations, are available in Nespelem, Inchelium, Republic, Colville, Kettle Falls, Elmer City, Brewster, and other nearby towns.
