The alarm clock went off yesterday morning and I decided that sleep was more important than fishing first light.  It was a good decision.

Headed out just before slack current and paddled east so the afternoon ebb would bring me back to the launch.  As the flood ended the seas became glassy smooth and the fish started working bait.  Scattered boils along the surface were common.  It was hard to get close to the fish so I decided to just wait for fish to come close to the kayak.  Was able to hook a couple fish this way before the ebb.  A rip line formed and the birds and fish really started working.  I rode the ebb back to near the launch and noticed the other side of the rip was running east, so I decided to use the current to my advantage and work back to the east.  I used the current to my advantage and was able to fish both sides of the rip.  When it was time to head back I hopped on the west side and fished and drifted back to the launch and paddled in.  The current was my friend.

Damn, caching a salmon on a fly looks fun.   What weight fly rod were you using?

     Cool video topwater,
A couple of questions for ya..Were you fishing right out of Port Angeles ?
What flies did you use ? Sinking line or floating ?
How deep was the water ?
Looks like a lot of fun..............
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

i was using clouser minnows on sinking lines, both clear intermediate and a heavy sinking shooting head.  water was approx. 200-300 ft deep
