We can do the big C, Nehalem Bay, launch off one of the beaches in between, etc etc.  I'm in Cannon Beach so really anywhere on the North coast is good with me.  Salmon &/or rockfish/perch....

Who wants to go? You can call/text me at 503-956-6237 if you'd rather or just reply on here... - Anthony

Hi,

I fished Newhalem bay above the bridge yesterday and saw a few nice Kings get caught but the fish were pretty lock jawed.  It has definitely slowed down since last week.  The fish should be holding in the lower bay and mouth waiting for some rain. I heard that the King fishing off the coast near Astoria was red hot this weekend so the fish should be moving down.  FYI lower Newhalem bay down stream from Wheeler boat ramp is closed to salmon fishing rish now.

Good luck,

Tomas

You sure its the Wheeler ramp and not the ramp at the state park?  Unless its a last minute reg change, and there's nothing about it on the ODFW update site, its traditonally no angling for salmon between the mouth and the ramp at the state park.

Congrats!

I was hoping to clear up any confusion about what section of the Nehalem is closed so folks who are headed down would have the correct current  information.  Thomas stated in his above post info that was contrary to the way it was a week or so ago when I was down there.  I checked the ODFW site and did not see the change and hoped he could clarify if it was a new reg posted at the launch or that perhaps he just had his ramps mixed up.

Yes Pelagic you're correct, as always the regulations are from NB state park down.  Thanks for clarifying to everyone

Sorry about the misinformation, I was told that Wheeler was the boundry by a local. The regs do state Newhalem Bay State Park as the official boundry but as a foreiner I do not know the local geography very well. I guess I should take what Oregonians say with a grain of salt :D and leard how to decifer the Oregon regs better.
