Pristine 540 star drag, spooled with 300 yards 65# braid, and 100 yards CXX 30# mono topshot.  Has nifty Tiburon handle, pix follow--$200 plus a bit for shipping.
If you know Progear, you know they're the best star drag reels outside of Everol and Duel---both in the $500-600 range.  This reel will handle anything in the Columbia or the inshore Pacific.  Great halibut reel!!! Will consider trade for the right Avet or Okuma Cedros.

That is a VERY good deal ....   I was just recently "fishing" for a couple of new reels wanting something smaller with the drag of a bigger reel.   Came upon several amazing reviews on the Pro Gear and was looking for one on ebay with no results found.   Too bad that the company looks to be struggling or out of business.  If I hadn't just ordered a couple of Avets,  I would jump on this one in a heartbeat.
I used to think that Bigfoot might exist. Then I saw the reality shows where they are looking for them.  Now I am certain they don't

Pro Gear reels are great, although they are out of business.  This is a great deal on a 540.  Thinking about it.  I have a couple of 251's, a 255, a 454, a 545, and a 541.  I love these reels and find myself reaching for them first more often than not.

Good for you... but RATS, that's just what I was looking for! PM if your pending sale falls through, and I'll but it.

money received, I'll let you know if he wants it back after he gets the reel.  Great halibut reel, overkill for kings unless you';re catching 50+ pounders!

What's your weather like, understand it's been a tough winter up your way.

Glad your sale went through so far, for you. But if it doesn't, I'm your backup. I'd want it for halibut hunting.

Winter has been intense, but it's part of the pleasure of living here if you embrace it. I love this time of year, with days growing longer by 5 minutes daily and now, after the shift, with the sunset after 8. Been a cold year, but it's the snow that's been notable: where I am in Anchorage we've had about 125" so far.  That coupled with cold has made it a skier's paradise. I'm lucky to live near some beautiful groomed trails that skirt the coastline, so I've been out on XC skis +50 days this season.  I figure all that classical skiing has been good in building stamina plus core and leg strength for the kayak fishing to come. Yet I'm at least a month from putting a boat in saltwater, and probably two months from any of the big lakes.

Until I can wet a line once again, I'm taking vicarious pleasure on this forum -- and closely monitoring the Makahiki results from the Aquahunters site, imagining fishing in Hawaii.  I have much to learn.
