Quick fishing report. I hit George Rogers today. I did a little smallmouth fishing with one lost fish. I spent most of the time sturgeon fishing and I ended up catching 11 sturgeon including 3 that would be pushing legal sized. I measured them against my paddle and measured the mark later. They were right around 35 inches and really fat!!  I think I really got the hang of hooking them as I missed very few fish. Bummer of a day to forget the camera. I did chat with another kayak angler in a green SINK. Overall it was a great day. Sand shrimp and worm was the ticket.

Nice job and thanks for the report! Sounds almost as fun as trolling for 8 hours without a bite.

Sweet!  Anytime you are hammering yard long fish, that has to be a great day!  But ya know what they say...it's just talk without proof...  haha.  Just kidding.

Gotta try that one day.  Can you imagine an oversize one from a yak!

Great job!

Wow, nice work on the Sturgeon!

Drove all the way up to Riffe Lake only to find no water. Headed back down and fished Swofford Pond, alleged to be a hawg bass hangout. Met two guys who claimed they landed a couple of large bass. After slogging our way through Mirage Drive clogging pond foliage we plunked everything we had. Got several nibbles on Senkos and got one little one within 5' of the boat. Decided to drive home tonight and fish out of Washugal tomorrow. Will try for smallies and Walleye early then Salmon in the afternoon based on 1 PM high tide. Anyone want to join us?

ENVIOUS, you are having too much fun!

I finally made my anchor,  needing a few things, once I am finished with my Anchor.
I'll be out there.  Getting me all excited. :)

Hopefully some day I get back into Kayak fishing, for now.  Gotta focus on Life.

Thanks for all the kind words. To be clear 8 of the 11 sturgeon were pretty small but still fun to me!  I do have a couple of observations based on yesterday. A lot of the fishing I did was during high slack. During that period I only caught small ones. The better fish all bit once the current was running harder.

I also spoke with some guys in a boat in the morning. They said they had caught a bunch of shakers and two 40 inches.  I think it was just a hungry day on the river :)

Hey Noah, is this the wild coho you released last week when you could have kept it??

Ha! Just kidding buddy.  You have caught more salmon than I.

Nice trick, Craig, however my fish was actually a wild Chinook and about 5 times larger than that one  :P
